About the Role
Brighton Music Center is seeking an enthusiastic, customerâfirst PartâTime Sales Associate to help musicians and families find the right instruments and accessories. A strong preference is placed on woodwind and/or brass players who understand the basics across wind instruments. Youâll work with beginners through advanced players, plus parents and teachers.
Schedule
- Part-time Availability
- REQUIRED: Fridays & Saturdays 10am – 5pm
- and some weekdays (Thursdays 10:30am – 7pm)
- 20 – 30 hours/week
- Additional shifts may be available based on store/seasonal needs
What Youâll Do
- Assist customers with selecting instruments and accessories; match recommendations to needs and skill level
- Provide friendly, expert guidance to students, parents, and educators
- Accurately process sales transactions and handle basic POS tasks
- Achieve personal sales goals and contribute to store goals
- Keep the sales floor organized, stocked, and inviting
- Resolve customer needs and issues promptly and professionally
- Collaborate with teammates to deliver great experiences
- Attend weekly/monthly sales training sessions
What You Bring
- Positive, highly motivated attitude and a willingness to learn
- Strong phone etiquette and inâperson communication skills
- Customer service or retail experience (music retail a plus)
- Some understanding of brass and/or woodwind instruments (preferred)
- Comfort being on your feet and engaging across the sales floor
- Reliable availability for evenings and weekends (Fri/Sat)

Orchestral Strings Technician – North Hills Location

About the Role
Brighton Music Center is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Orchestral Strings Repair Technician to join our repair department. This role focuses on the maintenance, setup, and restoration of orchestral string instruments (violins, violas, cellos, and basses) serving students, educators, and professional musicians across Western Pennsylvania.
The ideal candidate takes pride in precision craftsmanship, is comfortable balancing production and custom work, and values collaboration in a busy, education-focused shop environment.
Schedule
- Part-time/Full-Time Availability
- Weekdays (ex. 10am – 5pm)
- 20â30 hours/week
- Additional shifts may be available based on store/seasonal needs
What Youâll Do
- Perform setup, maintenance, and repairs on orchestral string instruments (violin, viola, cello, and bass).
- Assess instruments for structural and tonal issues, and recommend repair work as needed.
- Execute fitting, gluing, bridge cutting, soundpost fitting, and tonal adjustments.
- Maintain accurate documentation for all repairs, estimates, and customer records.
- Assist with incoming school service repairs, rentals, and quality control inspections.
- Collaborate with other technicians to balance workflow and meet deadlines.
- Communicate clearly with customers, teachers, and sales staff regarding repairs and recommendations.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace.
What You Bring
- Completion of a professional string repair or luthiery program or certification from an accredited institution, or equivalent hands-on experience in a string repair environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in setup and repair of orchestral string instruments (bridge and soundpost fitting, nut and saddle work, gluing, seam repair, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail, craftsmanship, and finish work.
- Excellent communication and time-management skills.
- Ability to balance individual projects with team priorities and deadlines.
- Willingness to continue learning and refine techniques through mentorship and collaboration.
